What teachers and students said about Accounting 1.2

Subjective Feedback and Objective Measures

We asked students what they thought about using the software and measured their performance rigorously with automated marking. The results are shown below. (Note that the grades are preliminary and before resits and adjustments. They will likely move up further.)

What teachers said about Accounting 1.2

Esther Feltoe – Paraparumu College

  • When I informed my classes during the covering of the theory relating to the standard that they were going to be assessed using Excel, a few were very concerned and asked me after class whether they could rather do a paper version of the assessment.
  • After the assessment was completed, I found that more of my students attained ‘Excellence’ or ‘Merit’ than in previous years, even the students who asked me beforehand if they could rather do a paper-based assessment. Having the assessment auto-marked has saved me countless hours that I can now use for other work.
  • Thank you, Doyle and Peter for bringing this brilliant idea into fruition, as well as the great back-up you provided before and during the assessment.

Craig Morrison – St Peters Cambridge

  • Schoolsims allows students to work at their own pace and provides instant feedback on their progress to both students and teachers. A great way to invovle students in reaching their learning outcomes.

Chris Bell – Kerikeri high school

  • I wanted to feedback on an internal assessment we are currently running using an Excel based resource developed by the people at http://schoolsims.co.nz/. Both the students and myself as teacher have enjoyed the learning and assessment process. This is something we would normally do manually and generally this tool made for a more efficient experience, especially in marking (which happens automatically). I can recommend it and keen to hear from others who have used it.
