Installation instructions on home computers for teachers and students
Note: To use our simulations you need Excel 2010 or 2013 (with .Net 4.5 which is free and is usually installed) and use Windows 7 or 8 on a PC or Windows on a Mac
- Download and install the Schoolsims client. You can take a look at the video below for more information. The actual process may differ slightly.
- If you have been given a username and password, then you can login and use the sim with this. Alternatively you can test the setup with the demo login where the user name is testing with password testing and a confirmation screen will come up if it is installed correctly. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need a username and password.
- On rare occasions an error comes up on installation saying: Exception reading manifest from http://schoolsims.spreadsims.net/datas/spreadsims/SpreadSims.vsto the mainfest may not be valid or the file cannot be opened . In this case it is likely that you do not have .Net 4.5. This can be installed from Microsoft for free from here.
There are different instructions for installing the client in a lab at school.
